Family Session in Ojai, California

As a mom of young children, I’m always warned that every moment is fleeting, that they grow so fast — don’t blink, it will be gone before I know it. I’ve only been a mom for an objectively short time and already can say that these sentiments are all very true. I do often find myself tearing up at memories that pop up on my phone of my babies who have grown so much in such a short time — the little voices that are forever changed, a chubby little waving hand, those signature scrunched baby smiles. Moments that are now memories, videos, and frozen frames of that fleeting littleness.

All of us know that twinge that the awareness of time passing brings, however, interacting with families like this, with older children, teenagers, and even adult children, assuages that angst. Seeing these families’ shared joy in each other’s presence at different ages and stages of life makes me excited to experience all the inevitable changes that time will bring. Will I look back and miss the tiny babies and bouncing toddlers? Absolutely. I will remind myself that every age and stage has beauty and joy that isn’t to be missed!
